Square, the start of payments, Tuesday morning introduces new hardware to accompany its software cash register for iPads. The accessory is essentially a holder that doubles as a credit card reader.

The product, called current Square, can connect to other accessories like a printer, the cash drawer and barcode scanner. It includes a safety screw to lock iPad in place; a merchant can also drill a hole in the work plan for the bolt it to the table, Jesse Dorogusker, a vice president of Square, which oversees its registry product.

The bracket can be rotated to enable the iPad to customers, so they can sign their recipes.

"We wanted to build not only a great piece of software, but also hardware to deal with the", said Jack Dorsey, Chief Executive of the place, appearing in a café in San Francisco. Booth would be a refreshing alternative to the systems point of sale ugly, slow, costly to merchants, he said.

The stand costs $300 and will arrive in Best Buy stores in July. The place is also taking pre-orders on its Web site.

The device is compatible with the iPad 2 and iPad 3 - not even the fourth generation iPad - because these iPads at lower cost are most popular among merchants that use instead, according to Mr. Dorsey.
